TRANG THUY NGUYEN

Originally born and raised in Hanoi, Trang Thuy Nguyen embarked on her professional dance career at the age of 23 as a studio dancer, dance teacher and choreographer's assistant at Kinergie Studio. Trang started out in professional sport training, and won the Gold Medal of City Athletics at the age of 14.

Later on, Trang Thuy was adopted by the early 2000 era Vietnamese Contemporary Improvisation Pioneer - Ngoc Thi Do Hoang to train in Contemporary Improvisation and Classical Ballet. In 2022, she battled to become the official dance member and was guided to train in Popping with Animation Boogie, C.O (Come On), one of the oldest Vietnamese street dance groups.

Trang’s main dance style is Contemporary. In 2024, Trang performed and co-choreographed as the sole Northern dance artist representing the female Queer community for Cham-Cam, an experimental performing piece with live soundstage featuring music transmission in Hue, Central of Vietnam, directed by Asian-German Duo Artists Nguyễn + Transitory. As an artist, Trang draws significant inspiration from her father: his simplicity, playfulness, emphasis on discipline, strong visual senses, quest for authenticity, and expressions of life through dancing. Athleticism is a rooted element in her dance style. This had led her to the passion and strong practice in Lyrical, Ballet and Jazz. In 2023, she began training in Ballet, Jazz with Ms. Sabra Johnson, joined EVA Dance Company and continues her Ballet Training with Ms. Linh Rateau. Dwelled in her love for serving art communities since 2012, Trang has been an enthusiastic social and art activist, practiced multiple art disciplines for 12 years with Water Wise Vietnam, Tohe Social Enterprise, IT’S T TIME, Hanoi Pride, The Embassy of United State in Vietnam; Samaritan’s Purse International Relief Organization, North Carolina & Alaska, USA. Her philosophy in dance teaching is “Close the gaps and treat every heart with a gentle dance”. She cares deeply about how dance could serve people from all different backgrounds and how she could preserve a space of love for all ages and body types, especially ones with special needs. Close the gaps and treat every heart with a gentle dance.
